Implement support for the KDE-IM bridge (KIMIface)

Description (last modified by sjors) (diff)

The KDE-IM bridge (KIMIface) allows applications to be integrated in the file manager, e.g. files can be sent directly to a contact. As KDE application, we'd love to have this support too.

The currently improvised DBus '/remoteControl' service returns the status as integer. This should obviously be fixed too, better use strings instead which are more descriptive for RPC.

As additional note, this should also make it possible to import contacts from your addressbook for example.

At this topic someone also asked to import from Thunderbird. We have two possible solution for this:

  • implement an importer for every possible e-mail app (not realistic)
  • wait for Anakondi to integrate in all Linux mail apps (build upon others).

That would be a good usecase for Anakondi as well :-)

Definitely a candidate for KMess 2.1, when else will we implement it.. ;-)

Also got this topic about integration with kontact and the kopete plasmoid.

Isn't this done by means of the kmesssendplugin nowadays?
